A Family Tradition

Every year, when Christmas is approaching, the whole of orchard road will be decorated with lights.

It is a long standing tradition of my family to drive around orchard to enjoy the lights. I remember anticipating the yearly outings of lights viewing. The excitment of wondering how the displays would turn out for that year.

Dad would drive us around all the hotels & shopping centres & we would alighted to take some pictures at displays that we liked. After that, we would always have supper. I remembered I always get to choose our supper place. These are the moments I would always cherished.

After Papa left us, I still make it a point to uphold this tradition. Even though, the feeling is different without him, I know that mum feels comforted by our yearly visits to orchard. In future, when I have kids, I will continue our yearly tradition & tell them all about their Ah Gong & my childhood memories.
