Keeping busy

February 16, 2008 simplyjen Leave a comment

Schedule for the day.

Morning:  Tidy house and start cooking. M is coming for lunch. I am feeling panicky cos I can’t quite cook and she is really good at it. I already brought the ingredients last night but am kind of at a loss what dishes to prepare. Soup is a definite since it is my “almost guarantee to turn out well” dish. And steamed fish. Should be easy. I promised her liver with ginger and spring onion in sesame oil. The sotong, tofu and vegetables? I will decide how to cook them tomorrow. Hope it turns out well.

Afternoon: We hang out.

Late afternoon: Picked up jeans that I sent for alterations. Need to go hospital to visit S and her new born.

Night: Barbeque at G’s place and drinks at some clubs for later. Think I will try to skip the drinks to come home and read the materials I was given for the second round of interview.

Hopefully, I can get a good night’s sleep after that.

Just thinking

Had dinner here. It’s another trip down memory lane.

L came to mind.

Same incidents, both of you were there.

Yet, all I remember was your concern and totally disregarded his concern.

The heart is a strange thing. How does it decide?

Memory is a strange thing too. It creeps up on you silently and unexpectedly. Unannounced and unwelcome.

From the best friend

Yes, we finally met up. About time too.

Polka dots are still in. I like. Especially the cherries dotted towel.

Btw, I learned that feeding children is a much harder task when they can out scream, out run and out talk you. No need to out talk actually. Just an adamant refusal to eat and your parents are all flustered. Looks like lots of fun. If I am the kid, I probably just go through the refusal routine to get a kick out of watching how flustered my parents get. Boy! I probably was a difficult kid back then. Let’s hope there is no such thing as karma.

Best friend’s hubby and little darling. Best friend is the one capturing this sweet moment.

It is moments like this

that makes me wish this is not an anonymous blog. So that I can post more similarly stirring moments here. F’s wedding shots are gorgeous. I like how the cosy feel of the event is captured in its simplicity. Each shot is candid, capturing each moment perfectly.

Couldn’t resist posting this shot. How beautiful.

New Dress

January 16, 2008 simplyjen Leave a comment

A passed me her original ROM dress as a bridemaid dress cos she is wearing this instead.

So sweet of her. I am really happy that she is wearing the dress for her ROM. And of course, now, I have a new dress too! Haha!

Now, all we have to do is to think of evil ways to sabotage the groom and his entourage.

I am looking forward to her wedding.

Completed

3.15am: It’s finally done! No more sewing. Yeah!

I can finally pass AL her wedding gift. *wide grin*

And, I am so pleased with my handicraft. *smirk* I know I didn’t make the dress but it is still alot of sewing just to add the frills on.

Ok, I will admit. I was seized by anticipation to see how it looks. I couldn’t resist trying it on. Sorry, A. After all, I had been sewing frantically in my spare moments these two weeks. I probably won’t see the dress again. So, just one quick try to please my very vain self.

Here it goes.

Haiz..I probably won’t get to see it again. I hope A likes it.

Last night

We had dinner at this insanely remote place right in the heart of town. Most of us were quite amazed that this place exists. Even the cab-drivers got lost. The dinner place was quite cool and an award winning one.

We happily ordered different main courses and got busy tasting each other’s dishes so that we could try all the mains. The hightlight of the night was the lamb racks. Mutton is usually on my off-list but this one tasted good! Oh and we took blatant pleasure in ordering all the desserts on the list. We went, “Oh! This is so good!” with every single dessert that we took. And of course, we just had to order more desserts. Yummy!

Adjourned to St James for partying. Our cab alighted us right in front of the bus-stop, all attention immediately went to our star of the night, wearing her boa and bridal crown. Y and I cracked up at their expressions. We decided we are solely in need of coffee and make a stop at Toastbox. By then, we got quite used to all the stares throw at AL. She was looking quite natural in her “outfit”.

The rest of the night, we drank, we gamed, we danced and took countless pictures of the bride to be. She drank, gamed, danced and took countless pictures. She sportingly got on the platform and danced with her bridal gear. Fell off the platform whereby we insisted she came down and started forming a human barricade around her.

We bar-hopped to the salsa bar (can’t remember the name). D and I went in a few mins behind the others and were shocked and amused to find her on stage dancing with the lead singer. We joined the others to find them asking each other bewilderedly, “How did she get on stage so fast?” Apparently, she went in with F first and was singled out and dragged on stage in less than 5 mins. She was certainly the centre of attraction for the night. We sent F on stage to get her down. It was quite funny cos that woman was clearly having fun and not ready to get off stage. F had to dance a trussle kind of dance on stage with her and the lead singer before finding the opportune moment to slip off gracefully with AL in tow. Well, as gracefully as possible lah. He danced for a while to please the singer. Danced with AL to catch hold of her and started edging their way off the stage.

We left after a short stint of dancing. AL was quite upset with us and adjourned to join her hubby to be who was still partying hard. It was 2am when I reached home. Early hours for partying maybe, but, I felt sooo tired.

A new resolution

January 13, 2008 simplyjen Leave a comment

I have a new resolution after tonight.

I decided to give up clubbing. I really don’t enjoy it anymore. It’s truly a waste of time and money.

I have never been a party animal anyway. There was this period where it was fun for a while. The only place I ever really like was this place at Chjimes. I like it because it is a caucasian crowd. Not because I am a SPG but because I think the crowd are really there to enjoy dancing. So, it is alot of fun to dance there. We don’t get pester by annoying men. And the live band is really good. I dislike places where everyone is hanging around trying to look cool or waiting for a pick up. Which is what I think of most clubs with the local crowd.*grimace*

Anyway, the next time somebody asks, my reply will be “I don’t club anymore.”

Think AL was disappointed by how early all of us cried off tonight. It is not because we do not love you, ok. You are the only reason why all of us are there tonight. But, really. Think all of us are feeling old and not into partying anymore. I can sew till 5am for you but please don’t ask me to party to wee hours. Really cannot make it anymore. 2 vodka ribena and I feel like I am all ready for bed.

Busy sewing away…

Been sewing fervently for the past week working on this. I hope to finish by monday. So that I can give it to her before the big day. We are going out to celebrate her hen night later. Dinner at this place she requested. Apparently, the chef is cute. And, of course, clubbing to celebrate the party queen’s end of singlehood.

More sewing tomorrow. Hopefully, I can finish it.

The two cds I received this week are doing wonderfully as companions to sewing. The combination of which seems therapeutic.
